Welcome to BCHS,

We are looking forward to welcoming your child to school for the new academic year on Thursday 3 September.

First Day Arrangements

Students should arrive at school by 8.25am, wearing their full school uniform. Staff will be positioned at the school gates to welcome students and check uniform on arrival.

During their first day, students can expect to:

• Have a tour of the school to help them familiarise themselves with the site.
• Meet your peers and some of your teachers.
• Receive their new timetable.
• Attend year group and house assembly in the Main Hall.
• Take part in team building activities.
• Receive their school logins and passwords.
• Be registered on our biometric system in the canteen, which is used to purchase food and drinks at lunchtime.

Lunch Arrangements

As students will be unable to purchase lunch on their first day while we complete the biometric registration process, we are asking all students to bring a packed lunch with them on Thursday 3 September.

If your child is in receipt of Free School Meals, we will provide them with a lunch. Please email bchs@osborne.coop to confirm that your child will require a school-provided lunch on their first day.

Free School Meals 

If you are currently in receipt of Free School Meals, we are advised by the Local Authorities that you 
will need to make an application at the point of transfer from primary to secondary school via your 
Local Council. This must be completed from the 1st August 2026 and before 1st September to ensure 
our lists are up to date and correct. Please check the eligibility criteria before you apply to avoid 
unnecessary applications.
